Going on with CLIL methodology- 2.1
Hi again,
In this part of the programme I´ve commented the CLIL methodology used in the following Maths Didactic Unit aimed at 2nd ESO students:
From this unit I´d like to highlight the great number of activities where students have to work in pairs or groups. They are very dynamic activities using realia, so this flexibility is one of the main aspects in CLIL methology.
Scaffolding is another important aspect we have to take into account when talking about CLIL. In this unit the teacher provides the students with previous structures so they can use them in their oral presentations.
All skills are also used. Maybe I can point out the lack of videos or audios, so students had the opportunity to listen to different extracts apart from their teacher and classmates. Howvwer, production skills (writing and speaking) are used in most of the activities presented. Reading activities are focused on the comprehension of problems presented. We have to pay attention to the final proyect. This is a good way to put all contents learned into practice using different resources, such us the Internet.
Rubrics are also relevant. I like the way they are presented, so the students can check the knowledge they have acquired.
All in all, I think it´s a good unit.
See you,Ana Rojas
